Biography: JAYAKUMAR, PhD. joined the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, National University of Malaysia (UKM) as a senior lecturer after completing his PhD in neuroscience (addiction) in 2015 from University of Science Malaysia, and his undergraduate degree in biomedical science (BSc) with an honors first class degree at the University of Putra Malaysia in 2008. To date, Dr. Kumar has published 40 articles in peer-reviewed international journals (11 Q1, 20 Q2, 2 Q3, 3 Q4), presented in 25 national and international conferences, principal investigator of 16 national, international, and industrial grants, and also received recognitions such as Young Investigator Award from Asian Pacific Society of Neurochemistry, Young Investigator Award from Faculty of Medicine UKM, Excellence in service awards from UKM, Young Teacher’s Award from Malaysian Society of Pharmacology and Physiology, best presentation awards in both oral and poster presentations in numerous international conferences, Committee for Aid and Education in Neurochemistry (CAEN) award from International Society of Neurochemistry, gold awards in International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition. Dr. Kumar also awarded with Fellowship in Addiction Medicine (University of Malaya Centre for Addiction Science Studies). Dr. Kumar is currently the associate editor of journal Medicine & Health, Honorary treasurer of Malaysian Society of Neurosciences-Basic Neuroscience Council, Head of Neuroscience Module for year 2 medical undergraduates, and chairperson for the upcoming Neuroscience school to be co-organized by National University of Malaysia, International Brain Research Organization, Malaysian Society of Neurosciences, International Islamic University of Malaysia, and University of Science of Malaysia in September 2021.
